Software Engineer

Summary

Join Embedded Medical's engineering team as a Software Engineer (Applied AI) and contribute to the development of an AI-powered operating system for consumer healthcare. This is a full-stack role requiring deep applied AI expertise, focusing on integrating AI technologies, architecting AI-first systems, and building evaluation infrastructure. You will lead AI integration initiatives, drive AI development practices, and shape the developer experience. The role is FTE and remote, with occasional in-person work in Kosovo. You'll report to the Head of Engineering and work closely with the CEO. Embedded Medical is a rapidly growing company with a strong mission and a unique culture.

Requirements

• Experience: 4+ years experience as a software engineer
• GenAI: 1+ years of experience building on top of LLMs in production
• Kosovo based

Responsibilities

• Lead AI integration initiatives: Spearhead the integration of AI technologies across our product suite, identifying opportunities to automate repetitive tasks, streamline workflows, and enhance efficiency
• Architect AI-first systems: Design and implement robust architectures for AI-powered features, focusing on things like evaluation frameworks, testing harnesses, and monitoring systems that ensure reliable production deployment of LLM-based features
• Build evaluation infrastructure: Create comprehensive testing and evaluation frameworks that enable teams to measure, compare, and optimize their AI features across multiple dimensions including accuracy, reliability, and performance
• Drive AI development practices: Define and implement best practices for prompt engineering, evaluation, and testing methodologies. Stay at the forefront of emerging techniques in AI development, bringing insights from academic research into practical engineering solutions
• Shape developer experience: Design and build intuitive APIs, workflows, and tools that make complex AI testing and evaluation accessible to developers without AI/ML backgrounds. Draw from your experience with existing AI frameworks and tooling to create delightful developer experiences that help teams ship confidently

Preferred Qualifications

• AI/ML: Python, PyTorch, Data analysis, GenAI
• Frontend: Typescript, React.js, Next.js
• Backend: Nest.js, PostgreSQL, BullMQ, Redis, OpenAI API
• Devops: CI/CD, AWS EC2, AWS ECS
• Design: Figma, UX experience
• Logging and Analytics: Sentry, Mixpanel, A/B testing
• No-code: Zapier, Webflow
• Customer dev: experience with customer interviews and turning customer insights into features
• Background: CS degree, open source contributions
