Software Engineer

Summary

Join Huntress, a fully remote global cybersecurity company, as a Software Engineer specializing in log parsing. You will play a key role in enhancing our log parsing capabilities by ingesting large-scale log data and developing and maintaining log source parsers that integrate with our SIEM system. As a full-stack developer with a backend focus, you will collaborate with senior engineers to ensure high-quality, efficient, and reliable parsing of diverse log formats. This position requires experience with Ruby on Rails, regular expressions, and version control systems. Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in software development
• 2+ years of programming experience with Ruby on Rails
• Strong understanding of regular expressions (Regex) and their application in log parsing, ensuring performant and optimized solutions for large-scale data processing
• Basic understanding of security by design
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain log source parsers using Ruby on Rails
• Write and optimize regular expressions (Regex) to extract critical information from log files
• Collaborate with security engineers to understand log formats and parsing requirements
• Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of log parsing through testing and validation
• Contribute to the improvement of our log parsing infrastructure and processes
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with SIEM systems (e.g., Splunk, QRadar)
• Familiarity with ClickHouse database
• Knowledge of Elastic Common Schema (ECS)
• Experience with JavaScript and CSS
• Experience working with external APIs
