Software Engineer

Summary

Join Stripe's Finance Engineering team and build large-scale platforms and data pipelines for mission-critical financial domains. You will design, build, and maintain systems impacting Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Treasury, GTM, and Business Operations. This role requires experience with large-scale data problems and production systems, along with strong coding skills (primarily Scala, Java, Spark, Airflow, and Javascript). The ideal candidate will have experience with big-data technologies like Spark, Presto, Kafka, and Flink. You'll collaborate with various stakeholders and contribute to team strategy and process improvement. Make a direct business impact on some of Stripe’s most mission-critical business domains.

Requirements

• 5+ years professional software development experience
• Experience designing and implementing solutions to large scale data problems
• Have delivered production systems of big scale
• Write high quality code. We work mostly in Scala, Java, Spark, Airflow, and Javascript
• Are interested in solving different business problems at breadth for Stripe’s Finance team

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain large-scale platforms, data pipelines, tooling and systems for the Finance team led by Stripe’s CFO, by leveraging front-end, back-end, data warehousing and batch processing technologies
• Make direct business impact in some of Stripe’s most mission critical business domains including Accounting, Finance & Strategy, Treasury, GTM and Business Operations
• Scope, design, implement, and deploy robust solutions, making appropriate tradeoffs between reliability, throughput, latency, resiliency, engineering velocity and cost
• Build watertight controls across pipelines to ensure super high accuracy for all financial transactions (hundreds of billions of dollars)
• Ensure accurate, reliable, and timely financial reporting delivered to a single source-of-truth financial data warehouse
• Work in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
• Uphold our high engineering standards and improve our codebase and processes
• Contribute to team strategy, roadmap, tooling, process, and culture

Preferred Qualifications

Experiences with big-data technologies such as Spark, Presto, Kafka, and Flink, Google Big Query and OLAP preferred
