Software Engineer

Join Whatnot, the largest livestream shopping platform, as a Software Engineer on the Payments - Experience team! You will be responsible for building and improving scalable payment systems handling millions of users. This role requires 5+ years of software development experience and a strong understanding of building user-centric solutions. You'll collaborate closely with other teams and contribute to critical areas like payment reliability, fraud mitigation, and international commerce. Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience building scalable systems that can handle millions of users
• Knowledge of multiple programming languages
• Excellent product instincts; prioritize users over technical solutions
• Ability to mentor others and build inclusive teams
• Strong ownership instincts and ability to own projects from inception to production, and beyond
• Proven ability to ship products and features quickly
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Willingness to work on frontend development as needed
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies
• Proven track record of delivering features

Responsibilities

• Build scalable systems that can handle millions of users
• Contribute to critical areas of the business like payment scale & reliability, increased payment options, fraud mitigation, and advanced shipping options and improved delivery times with a focus on providing a seamless international marketplace
• Collaborate closely with our sibling team, Payments - Treasury, as well as with other teams and senior leaders across Whatnot
• Mentor others, and prioritize building inclusive, supportive teams
• Own projects from inception to production, and beyond
• Ship products and features lightning-fast
• Solve problems and make decisions independently
• Work on frontend development when needed
• Quickly adapt to new technologies
• Deliver features consistently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with payment systems, infrastructure, experiences and international commerce
• Startup experience at a high-growth company
