Software Engineer (Data) in India

Summary

WeatherBug is a popular weather site and mobile app with over 15 million unique users per month. The Software Engineer (Data) role is located in Gurgaon or remotely, with core hours from 8:30 pm to 12:30 am IST. The engineer will update and create design diagrams, develop ETL processes, code basic visualizations, participate in code-reviews, create and maintain testing solutions, deploy solutions, provide operational support, determine issues, and work with teams across the engineering organization. The required qualifications include a 4-year degree in Computer Science or related field and 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Science, Python and SQL, Data Technologies (ETL, Data Sanitization), AWS Technologies (S3, Redshift, Glue, DynamoDB), PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Apache Airflow, Looker, and working with data formats. Preferred qualifications include experience in the weather industry, knowledge of the advertising industry, experience with CICD tools, GitHub, AWS Products (CloudFormation, Batch, Glue, MWAA, RedShift), other languages, frameworks, and platforms, Infrastructure as Code, Python, Shell, C#, .NET, NodeJS, formats like TXT, CSV, MARKDOWN, JSON, YAML, and troubleshooting moderate to high complexity problems. Requirements

• 4 year degree in Computer Science or related field
• 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Science
• 3+ years of experience with Python and SQL
• 3+ years of experience in Data Technologies (ETL, Data Sanitization)
• 3+ years of experience in AWS Technologies (S3, Redshift, Glue, DynamoDB)
• 3+ years of experience in Data Technologies (PostgreSQL, Hadoop, Apache Airflow)
• 1+ years of experience in Looker
• 3+ Years of experience working with data formats (JSON, Parquet, CSV files)

Responsibilities

• Update and create design diagrams as needed for new and existing solutions
• Develop ETL processes using a combination of SQL and Python scripts
• Code basic visualizations in Google Looker with the supporting backend Redshift and Airflow pieces
• Participate in code-reviews with comments to improve code quality, stability, and maintainability
• Create and maintain unit and integration testing solutions
• Deploy your solutions across multiple environments and platforms, and with guidance deploy to production
• Teardown your solutions across multiple environments and platforms
• Provide operational support of your deployed code
• Determine issues within your areas of expertise
• Work with teams across the engineering organization to understand and incorporate client requirements into final solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience, in general, in the weather industry
• Knowledge of the advertising industry
• Experience with CICD tools, specifically GitHub
• Experience with AWS Products, specifically CloudFormation, Batch, Glue, MWAA, RedShift
• Experience working with formats like TXT, CSV, MARKDOWN, JSON, YAML
• Experience with other languages, frameworks, and platforms, specifically Infrastructure as Code, Python, Shell, C#, .NET, NodeJS
