Summary
Join Spring Health's Member Experience Engineering team as a Software Engineer II and build modern AI-powered experiences. You will be a technical leader, designing and expanding the capabilities of our APIs and web/mobile front ends built with Ruby on Rails and React. The role is full-time, fully remote (or optionally hybrid), and includes travel opportunities. You will debug bugs, build infrastructure, conduct growth experiments, and contribute to architectural decisions. Success involves ensuring system quality, optimizing engineering efficiency, delivering projects effectively, collaborating cross-functionally, and working independently. Requirements
- At least 5 years experience as a software engineer
- At least 3 years of experience building developer platforms and tool chains
- Experience with tools like LaunchDarkly, Mixpanel, Datadog, Sentry and/or Iterable
- Comfortable working on an agile team and curious about learning new things
- Enjoy using test-driven development and pair programming
- Comfortable moving fast and working through ambiguity - we are a startup and are working on balancing the demands of business growth and platform reliability
Responsibilities
- Design and expand the capabilities of our API (built with Ruby on Rails) which powers several web apps and a mobile app, all of which are used to to screen, diagnose, and provide care for patients
- Design and expand the capabilities of our web front ends and app, built in React
- Debug important bugs in a timely manner
- Building infrastructure to connect our backend and marketing and sales resources
- Developer experiments to help improve our growth funnels
- Build on the foundation of a well tested codebase to ensure it remains robust and scalable as our business rapidly grows
- Identify areas for growth and iteration on our application stack and advocate for them on the engineering roadmap
- Help us make decisions like “grow the monolith” or “break things up into microservices” (or some other great idea!)
- Ensuring System Quality : Maintain high system uptime, low defect rates, and provide strong code review feedback
- Optimizing Engineering Efficiency : Achieve high completion rates for planned tasks, and increase deployment frequency
- Successful Project Delivery : Deliver projects on time, within scope, and with high stakeholder satisfaction
- Effective Cross-functional Collaboration : Receive positive feedback from partners, participate actively in meetings, and align on project goals
- Independent Work Proficiency : Complete tasks independently, resolve issues before escalating, and track personal tasks accurately
- Iterative Learning and Experimentation : Maintain a high success rate for experiments, implement improvements, and share learnings
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferably at least 3 years of experience with Ruby, Rails, React, TypeScript or Javascript
- Bonus: Flutter or mobile development experience
- Bonus points for experience with Docker & AWS
- Bonus points for GraphQL API design experience
