Summary
Join Torc, a leader in autonomous driving, and contribute to the development of software for automated trucks. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for various software development and engineering activities supporting the delivery of autonomy algorithm software. You will perform software development tasks, develop and test autonomy algorithms, and create software utilizing sensor data from LiDAR, RADAR, and cameras. This position requires a Master's or Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant experience in software engineering and autonomy automotive development. The position is located in Blacksburg, VA, but remote work within the U.S. is eligible, with up to 20% domestic and international travel possible. Requirements
- Masterโs degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related autonomy software engineering technical field with 2 yearsโ post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer 2, Autonomy or closely related position with autonomy automotive development experience
- Alternatively, Bachelorโs degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related autonomy software engineering technical field with 5 yearsโ experience as a Software Engineer 2, Autonomy or closely related position with autonomy automotive development experience
- Experience must include: 1) C++ & python software development in Linux environment
- Experience must include: 2) modeling and simulation of traffic systems, vehicle dynamics, and control systems
- Experience must include: 3) virtual verification & validation of automated driving systems
- Experience must include: 4) integrate traffic modeling with vehicle dynamics and sensor and 3D environment models
Responsibilities
- Responsible for various software development and engineering activities supporting the delivery of autonomy algorithm software to the overall system solution within our autonomy software algorithms components
- Perform software development activities such as software architecture, design, coding, unit testing, integration, deployment, and maintenance within their assigned autonomy algorithms software component
- Develop, implement and test autonomy algorithms with the areas of active sensing and information fusion
- Develop perception algorithms to detect and perceive objects for Torcโs autonomous driving systems, allowing the system to understand and react to the environment around the vehicle in real-time
- Create software to utilize algorithms that use sensor data from LiDAR, RADAR, and cameras to detect, classify, segment, and detect, segment, classify, and track obstacles in the vehicle's surrounding environment
- Create situational awareness for our behaviors and path planning teams to make vehicle decisions to navigate safety
