Join the Service AI Transformation Team at Natera and build AI-powered services and integrations. As a Software Engineer III, you will implement features across the stack using serverless patterns, event streaming, and generative AI techniques. You will work in a small, autonomous squad to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities. Core responsibilities include implementing event-driven workflows, leveraging cloud-based foundation model APIs, developing internal tooling, and integrating with Kafka streams. You will also contribute to AI-focused testing and ensure robust observability and dependable releases. Collaboration with senior engineers and product teams is essential. The role requires 4+ years of software engineering experience with AWS serverless architectures and specific technologies.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production cloud services
- Solid experience with AWS serverless architectures and event-streaming patterns (Kafka)
- Proficiency with TypeScript/JavaScript , React/Next.js , and GraphQL
- Hands-on experience with LangChain/Langraph , prompt engineering, and RAG patterns
- Familiarity with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (CDK/Terraform)
Responsibilities
- Implement event-driven transformation workflows and service integrations with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, S3, EventBridge, SNS/SQS, and Fargate , delivered through Infrastructure-as-Code (CDK or Terraform)
- Leverage cloud-based foundation-model APIs + LangChain/Langraph: Build AI transformation pipelines that orchestrate prompts, generate embeddings, and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns
- Develop internal tooling and dashboards with React/Next.js backed by GraphQL APIs
- Integrate with Kafka streams to exchange messages with domain microservices
- Contribute to AI-focused testing —prompt regression suites, hallucination detection, evaluation harnesses—alongside unit, integration, and load tests
- Instrument services with CloudWatch and Datadog and participate in CI/CD pipelines to ensure robust observability and dependable releases
- Work closely with senior engineers and Product to break down requirements into well-scoped technical tasks
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to continually improve team velocity and quality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, genomics, or other regulated domains
- Exposure to vector search and semantic similarity techniques
- Understanding of data privacy and compliance standards such as HIPAA
