Summary
Join the Linux Foundation's LFX platform team as a backend engineer and contribute to a mission-critical application for the open-source ecosystem. You will be part of an open-source-obsessed team, leading projects, interacting with users, making architectural decisions, and managing infrastructure. The role involves working with a modern tech stack including Node.js, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Vue.js. The position is fully remote within European time zones (CET +/- 2 hours), offering a salary range of $50-60k based on experience. You will contribute to a fully open-sourced codebase and work with cutting-edge technologies. The Linux Foundation is committed to a flexible and supportive work culture.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience working with backend technologies
- Proficiency in Node.js and SQL
- Experience with Kubernetes and Kafka for building and managing distributed systems
- Understanding of data ingestion and processing pipelines for handling large volumes of data efficiently
- A mindset focused on automation, building high-performance systems, and enhancing the developer experience through efficient, maintainable solutions
- A strong team player, willing to put on many hats and contribute towards the team's goals
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
- Able to work during the European time zone (CET +/- two hours)
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of backend systems for an application that supports developers and companies in the open-source ecosystem
- Collaborate on designing and building scalable, reliable systems for processing and ingesting large volumes of data
- Implementation of APIs and backend services to support our platformβs features
- Learn and apply best practices in backend development, including clean code, testing, and documentation
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of features
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with time series databases
- Having previously built or maintained an open-source project
