Software Engineer Intern

Summary

The job is for a web development internship at CoinGecko, a global leader in tracking cryptocurrency data. The intern will assist in designing and developing web applications, software development, code reviews, documentation, defect recovery, and team collaboration. The ideal candidate should be pursuing or recently finished a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related fields, have relevant experience, strong product knowledge and web development skills, good communication skills, leadership qualities, a growth mindset, and interest in cryptocurrency, blockchain, and smart contracts.

Requirements

• Proven Track Record: You have relevant or prior experience in developing usable, full-featured web applications
• Education: You are currently pursuing or recently finished a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields, or have comparable experience in software development and fundamentals
• Product Knowledge: Strong desire and passion to learn about the blockchain/cryptocurrency industry and the problems faced by users
• Web Development Knowledge: Is able to apply fundamental concepts effectively, follow best practices and deliver a working solution according to specifications. Familiarity with front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Stimulus, React) and back-end development technologies such as databases, APIs, and server-side development frameworks (e.g., Ruby on Rails, Node.js, Django, or Flask, GraphQL, RDBMS). Familiarity with Agile and SCRUM software development lifecycles and methodologies
• People Skills: Communicates clearly and have experience working with other individuals in a team towards achieving a common goal
• Leadership: Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision after 3 months. Has a strong sense of self-leadership, is curious and creative in finding solutions to a given task

Responsibilities

• Web Design & Development: Assist to design and develop web applications and software solutions that meet the business' needs and requirements
• Software Development: Write clean, reusable and maintainable code and libraries. Develop and push code into the production environment effectively
• Code Reviews: Support code reviews activities and propose ways to improve practices within the team
• Documentation: Develop documentation to supplement project delivery and maintain a knowledge base for collaborators in the same or other teams
• Defect Recovery: Assist in testing and debugging procedures to ensure that code is error-free and meets specifications
• Sharpen the Saw: Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in web development and contribute to continuous improvement of the team’s technical skills
• Team Player: Work collaboratively with engineering, product managers and designers to ship out products and features in a timely and effective manner
• Support any ad hoc tasks as required by the company

Preferred Qualifications

Nice to have: You’ve worked with Ruby, Rails, Javascript, React, Postgres, MongoDB, and Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud

Benefits

• The allowance for this position is RM2,250. (RM1,500 Monthly Allowance + RM150 Parking Allowance + RM600 Meal Allowance) for those based in Malaysia
• The allowance for this position is SGD1,500. (SGD1,000 Monthly Allowance + SGD100 Parking Allowance + SGD400 Meal Allowance) for those based in Singapore
