Summary

k-ID is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead their engineering team as they scale their innovative web platform, a privacy-centric tool for kids and teens online. The candidate should have experience in scaling large-scale web technology, leading teams, and implementing best practices for software development. Minimum requirements include a BS in Computer Science, 8 years of software engineering experience, and at least 6 years in a leadership role.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • 8 years of software engineering experience, with at least 6 years in a leadership role
  • Deep expertise in modern web frameworks and technologies (React, Node.js, GraphQL, etc.), and large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
  • Experience scaling engineering teams and processes from early-stage to mature organizations
  • Proven ability to balance technical leadership with people management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with CTO to drive architectural decisions and technology choices for our web platform
  • Collaborate with product and design teams to define and execute on our technical roadmap
  • Lead and grow a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and mentorship
  • Implement best practices for software development, testing, and deployment
  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation
  • Partner with the recruiting team to recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and engineering excellence

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science or related field
  • Background in the game industry, with a focus on high-performance web applications
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies
