Summary
Join Skillsoft's Enterprise Data Solutions team as a Solutions Architect! You'll lead an agile squad, focusing on data engineering and working closely with the Talent Development Solution business unit (Skillsoft and Codecademy). Leveraging your expertise in data and technology, you'll define and execute work within our agile framework, manage releases, and collaborate across the enterprise. This role requires strong data engineering experience, proficiency in Azure technologies, and experience with agile methodologies. Requirements
- Degree in Data Engineering, Information Technology, CIS, CS, or related field or experience
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering/Data Management space and working with enterprise level production data warehouses
- 3+ years of experience in building cloud data applications (data lake, cloud data warehouse, cloud analytical servers.) & deep understanding of Azure Databricks, PySpark, and Azure technologies
- 3+ yearsβ experience with a data engineering/analysis programming language (e.g., Python, R, Spark etc.)
- 3+ years of proven SQL Server experience building and supporting Data Warehouse structures and supporting end-user reporting tools such as Tableau/Power BI/SSRS
- 3+ years in understanding of GitFlow strategy and CI/CD concepts
- Highly proficient in data architecture and conceptual, logical and physical data modeling
- Experience in setting data design/architecture standards and best practices, leading forums to review initiatives and ensure adherence to the guidelines
- Established experience delivering information management solutions to large numbers of end users
- Experience with technology stacks available for Metadata Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, MDM, Lineage, Data Catalog etc
- Demonstrable experience in working cross-functionally across an enterprise organization to develop data architectures to facilitate business analytics
- Ability to work and potentially lead in an Agile methodology environment
- Experience and interest in cloud migration/journey to the cloud for data platforms and landscape
Responsibilities
- Organize your squad's work in our agile framework
- Execute the squad's work
- Manage releases for the squad
- Drive the advancement of Enterprise data infrastructure by designing and implementing the underlying logic and structure for how data is set up, cleansed, and ultimately stored for organizational usage
- Collaborate with technical peers to determine architecture and make critical technical decisions
- Work with a technical product owner to manage the squad through our agile framework including: Roadmap prioritization, Capacity Planning, Requirement gathering, QA and UAT, Leading agile ceremonies, Project and Platform Operations scoping
- Work with the latest open-source tools, libraries, platforms, and languages to build data products enabling other analysts to explore and interact with large and complex data sets
- Collaborate across the enterprise to enable and share best practices and reusable and scalable tools and code for our analyst community
- Champion the standardization of processes that generate data elements used in analysis and maintain document on lineage and definitions of data elements to support consistent usage in analysis
- Establish forward-looking data and technology objectives and develop the strategies and actions for the team to achieve them
- Engage in code reviews and ensure: Modularity, Re-usability, Adherence to standards
- Identify new technologies that may help us in future projects and perform R&D
- Manage release management through our defined process and standards
- Manage Technical debt and ensure its rectification on our roadmap
