Remote Spanish-English Interpreter and Translator

Join our team as a Spanish-English Interpreter and Translator at the USDA Caribbean Climate Hub. This remote and on-site position requires fluency in both languages, experience with translation and interpretation, and knowledge of natural resource management and climate change topics.

Requirements

• Fluent in both Spanish and English (oral and written), with a deep understanding of Puerto Rican history, culture, and dialect
• Proven experience in accurately translating and interpreting complex technical conversations and documents
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with event organizers

Responsibilities

• Provide simultaneous interpretation between English and Spanish during online and in-person activities
• Coordinate with the USDA Caribbean Climate Hub to schedule translation services
• Set up and manage translation booths and headsets during in-person events
• Ensure accurate and effective communication, adhering to established interpretation protocols without adding or omitting content

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred knowledge of natural resource management and climate change topics
• Proficient in the simultaneous translation of complex scientific topics between Spanish and English
• Experience with online platforms such as Zoom and Teams for interpretation services
