Summary

KBRA Holdings is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for its Infrastructure team to support internal teams in delivering products quicker, research and implement solutions that address pain points, migrate legacy systems to newer cloud databases, and mentor team members. The role requires building relationships with engineers and business users, working in an agile environment, and being on-call for services owned by the DBA team.

Requirements

  • MS SQL Server administration experience required
  • Experience in Version Upgrades, Database Instance Consolidations, and migrations
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native and 3rd party monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Demonstrated understanding of complex SQL, stored procedures, database functions, SSIS and ANSI and T-SQL queries and scripts
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA), Always on Availability Groups, MS SQL Clustering and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Data Security and data protection best practices
  • Experience with implementing and migrating to NoSQL technologies
  • Writing CI/CD pipelines -- Azure DevOps and/or GitLab preferred
  • Linux Operating System experience (nice to have)
  • Managing database environments regardless of its location, on-prem/cloud
  • Exposure to cloud architecture and Agile development methodologies
  • Experience working with container-based applications leveraging Docker swarm/Kubernetes
  • Building & maintaining systems using Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience with Python & PowerShell
  • Experience with MariaDB, MongoDB, Snowflake, Aerospike, Postgres etc. (nice to have)
  • Exposure to Azure SQL & AWS RDS and other cloud/SaaS technologies in production

Responsibilities

  • Help build Database as a service platform to support Internal teams deliver products Quicker
  • Research and implement solutions that address pain points in current development cycle
  • Migrate legacy systems to newer cloud databases while maintaining security, performance, and costs
  • Create Infrastructure as code solutions for Database provisioning, Scaling, and configuration changes in a multi cloud environment
  • Participate in Blameless Postmortems of production issues to identify potential improvements
  • Advocate for scalable, observable, reliable, and secure practices across the organization
  • Iterate over solutions and deliver work incrementally rather than delivering large, risky chunks of work
  • Mentor and frequently collaborate with people inside and outside the team
  • Be on-call for services that the DBA team owns and be available during production issues of systems use our systems
  • Oversee all database operations including planning, configuration, troubleshooting, monitoring, security configurations and migrations
  • Build & manage databases in multiple environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
  • Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases with data owners and department managers
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
