Summary
Join Pleo's Payments group as a Staff Engineer and play a key role in shaping our platform. You will design, build, and manage a payments platform transforming how users, partners, and the team work. This leadership role emphasizes fostering excellence through code and culture, promoting trust, transparency, and inclusivity. Responsibilities include problem-solving across teams, coaching engineers, and promoting features and processes. Coding will comprise 30-50% of your time. Requirements
- Solid experience with cloud environments / distributed systems / microservices (AWS, Google Cloud, Kubernetes)
- Experience in architecting and building maintainable and scalable solutions
- Experience with Authentication & Authorization for APIs
- Understanding of the role and responsibility of an API Gateway
- Experience with server-side languages (Kotlin and TypeScript preferred)
- Experience with testing frameworks (Cypress, JUnit, Testcontainers) and principles
- Experience with observability and monitoring (Grafana)
Responsibilities

- Coach and mentor other engineers
- Promote and explain the features and processes throughout the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with or eagerness to learn new programming languages like Go
- A curious mindset and a love for learning about new languages, principles, and working styles
- Ability to coach others on the team to help them develop as engineers
- Advocating for a more thorough code review process and performing meaningful and thorough code reviews
- Ability to be a key player in designing the overall solution, not just writing code
- Ability to foster a collaborative and supportive environment where colleagues feel comfortable sharing ideas and working together
- Ability to break down complex problems, gather input and align on tradeoffs while driving towards a solution that fits the current context
