Remote Staff Backend Engineer - Runtime Team Lead

Join webAI as a Staff Backend Engineer - Runtime Team Lead and contribute to building high-performance, distributed systems. As a key technical lead, you'll design and implement systems for local air-gapped systems and customer distributed deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of experience in product driven backend engineering, though we’re open to talking to candidates who have spent extensive time in embedded systems, platform teams, etc
• Strong proficiency in Go. Additional experience with Python and Rust preferred
• Experience with at least one messaging system such as MQTT, Kafka, Nats
• Experience with deployment pipelines, including CI/CD processes, and the ability to adapt to and manage a custom deployment strategy tailored to our unique system architecture and runtime requirements

Responsibilities

• Design and implement systems for both local air-gapped systems as well as customer distributed deployments
• Drive new features through robust backwards compatible updates that impact all of webAI's customers and products
• Participate in our budding knowledge, architecture, processes and systems, contributing your experience and intuition to raise the bar for the engineering org while making technical choices accessible to product owners
