Join Natera's Bioinformatics Research Team as a Lead/Staff Bioinformatics Engineer focused on Epigenomics in Oncology. You will create and maintain automation applications, leverage CI/CD principles, and collaborate with R&D and DevOps teams. You will lead technical projects using Agile methodologies, propose detailed designs, and participate in code and design reviews. This role requires a MS/PhD in a related field and 6+ years of relevant experience. Requirements
- MS/PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or related field with a strong focus on cancer epi/genomics
- 6+ years of relevant industry experience
- Track-record of developing state-of-the-art software
- Highly experienced in software engineering, algorithm development, and sequencing data analysis, preferably proven through development of production-level software
- Great understanding and experience of best practices in software development including object-oriented design principles, testing, deployment, version control tools, code review, and documentation
- Experienced in code profiling to identify opportunities for code optimization in terms of runtime and memory usage
- Deep understanding of sequencing data
- Expert in coding Python and using its scientific library stack including Numpy and Pandas
- Expert in using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
- Experience of using configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, salt, puppet)
- Operation and configuration of public cloud computing infrastructure (preferably AWS)
- Container technology and container schedulers (e.g. Docker and Singularity, Nomad and Kubernetes)
- High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods
- Ability to produce high quality written documentation for varying audiences
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple objectives and timelines
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with potential for high impact in a small team
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain custom automation applications that leverage CI/CD principles to streamline data analysis, quality checks, and reporting processes in support of the clinical development of Natera oncology pipelines
- Strong knowledge of Agile development methodologies and tools (Scrum, Jira) to lead technical projects
- Ability to collaborate between the R&D team and the DevOps team to develop and to troubleshoot production software products in a regulated environment
- Propose and present detailed designs and concise, well-written reports to cross-functional teams
- Participate in Code and Design Reviews
