Summary

Join PsiQuantum's Electronic OS Platform team as a Staff Data Engineer. You will be responsible for schema management, data integrations, and optimizations, ensuring efficient data movement and storage across various systems. This role requires expertise in database paradigms, data integration with streaming platforms, and proficiency in SQL and Python. You will collaborate with software engineers and infrastructure engineers to optimize data ingestion and storage. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or other related technical field
  • 10+ years in data engineering, focusing on schema design and optimization
  • Strong expertise in database paradigms (relational, document, time-series, object-store, block, file)
  • Experience integrating with streaming/messaging platforms (Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ)
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and data transformation techniques
  • Understanding of data modeling, indexing, and partitioning strategies
  • Familiarity with ETL/ELT workflows and data pipeline orchestration
  • Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, ELK stack)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD workflows and automated deployment strategies
  • Able to work effectively across a number of different teams/functionalities
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage schemas for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for high-performance querying
  • Develop and maintain data integrations with various sinks (databases, object stores, streaming platforms)
  • Collaborate with software engineers on efficient data ingestion and infrastructure engineers on storage optimization
  • Implement data transformation and enrichment pipelines to enhance usability
  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with best practices

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of specific storage and networking protocols (iSCSI) a plus
