Staff Data Scientist

Summary

Join Airbnb's Quality Data Science team as a Staff Data Scientist and make a significant impact on improving the quality of trips for hosts and guests. You will develop models, conduct causal analysis, design experiments, and build a universal system to ensure consistent quality across the platform. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor other data scientists, and develop quality measures to empower merchandising and search ranking. This role requires 8+ years of data science experience, a strong background in economics and statistics, and deep understanding of causal inference and machine learning. Requirements

• 8+ years industry experience in Data Science
• Background in economics, statistics, and experimentation
• Deep understanding of causal inference, machine learning, predictive modeling, and data-driven product development
• Demonstrated ability to influence and drive change in a cross-functional environment
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and translate detailed results into a compelling narrative
• Proven experience in developing and implementing data-driven strategies to address complex problems and improve business outcomes
• Strategic thinker with a passion for innovation and problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Develop models, conduct causal analysis, and design experiments to transform Airbnb's strategy and product for Quality in collaboration with cross-functional teams
• Develop quality measures to empower merchandising and search ranking
• Partner with engineering teams to build Airbnb’s quality measurement foundation
• Provide technical mentorship to other data scientists, guiding them through advanced modeling and inference tasks in the area of Quality

Preferred Qualifications

A PhD in economics or a related field is valued
