Staff Decision Scientist

Summary

Join Lemonade as a Decision Scientist and revolutionize car insurance. You will be part of the Actuarial team, building advanced pricing models and tools. Your work will impact various aspects of Lemonade, from distribution to finance. You will leverage data science and competitive data to optimize customer experience and ensure fair pricing. This role requires extensive collaboration with the Data Science team and involves leading research to identify pricing opportunities. You will also contribute to the development of internal pricing software for real-time decision-making.

Requirements

• 7+ years experience building insurance pricing programs using advanced modeling techniques
• Proficiency in data science programming languages (Python and SQL strongly preferred)
• Advanced experience developing and implementing predictive models using both supervised and unsupervised machine learning approaches such as GLM, decision tree, and gradient boosting machines
• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field

Responsibilities

• Be an owner and expert of our car insurance pricing program
• Collaborate extensively with the Data Science team to develop, file and implement new predictive models
• Leverage our telematics technology and data to build our next generation car pricing program
• Lead research to identify pricing and underwriting opportunities and partner with Insurance Product, Underwriting and Insurance Operations to implement the proposed actions
• Assist in the design and development of internal pricing software for advanced analytics to support real-time decision making and scalable growth

Preferred Qualifications

Prior personal insurance industry experience
