Summary

Join Housecall Pro as a Staff DevOps Site Reliability Engineer and work remotely to enhance the alignment between application and infrastructure components. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 6+ years of experience in Software Engineering, SRE, and/or DevOps roles
  • 4+ years of experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Proficiency with Ruby and experience supporting Ruby on Rails applications in a production environment
  • Familiarity with Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tooling such as Datadog or New Relic
  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform
  • Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities, capable of leading cross-functional teams and eager to take ownership of technical challenges

Responsibilities

  • Engage with engineers to provide support on projects related to infrastructure, observability, security, and stability
  • Ensure high availability and reliability of our Ruby on Rails applications through effective monitoring, proactive incident response, and system optimization using tools such as Datadog, Sumologic, and Cloudwatch
  • Design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS
  • Automate deployment, monitoring, and maintenance processes to improve system reliability and performance
  • Optimize application and cloud resources to ensure cost-effectiveness and scalability
  • Work closely with developers to safely deploy changes in a production environment, joining calls, providing guidance, and coaching best practices
  • Triage and route alerts to the appropriate teams, helping them resolve infrastructure and application issues promptly

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kubernetes and Kafka
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to support collaboration across teams
