Staff Front-End Engineer-React

Summary

Join Samsara, a pioneer in the Connected Operations™ Cloud, as a Staff Frontend Engineer to lead the technical direction of our Frontend Architecture and Developer Experience. You will build and maintain infrastructure, tools, and workflows for frontend development, enabling hundreds of engineers to build high-quality software. As a technical leader, you will collaborate across the engineering organization, identify and eliminate development friction, drive best practices, and architect scalable solutions. You will shape the future of frontend engineering through hands-on work, mentorship, and long-term strategy. This remote position is open to candidates in Canada. You will impact industries by building software that improves safety and efficiency, working on a large scale with millions of IoT devices, and collaborating closely with customers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in frontend development, including deep experience with React, TypeScript, and modern web tooling
• Demonstrated success designing and scaling developer infrastructure, such as build systems, test frameworks, or CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to align and influence across teams and levels
• Passion for improving developer workflows and building systems that enable others to move faster with higher confidence
• A track record of driving cross-functional technical initiatives or mentoring other senior/staff engineers

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact technical projects that improve frontend developer productivity, such as build performance, test infrastructure, or CI pipelines
• Collaborate with engineers across the company to scale shared tooling, enforce consistency, and drive adoption of platform improvements
• Define the long-term vision and roadmap for frontend in partnership with engineering leadership
• Mentor engineers and influence technical standards, patterns, and best practices across the frontend org
• Contribute hands-on to codebases, from infrastructure to design system tooling to internal developer tools
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Preferred Qualifications

• Programming experience in Go, Python
• Expertise working on large-scale enterprise software applications
• Demonstrated ability to ship production-quality software in a dynamic environment
