Summary

Join House Rx's PDE team as a Staff Full-Stack Engineer, a technical leadership role focused on designing robust systems on AWS for our pharmacy management platform. You will own key architectural areas, drive technical strategy using your system design and AWS expertise, and influence product evolution. This position requires inclusive leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration, utilizing our core stack (Node, TypeScript, React, Postgres, AWS). Lead the design and development of complex features and services, champion best practices, mentor junior engineers, and resolve complex technical issues. The ideal candidate is an experienced technical leader with a strong background in designing scalable systems on AWS and a passion for mentoring.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive full-stack software development experience, with a strong emphasis on backend systems, API design, and relational databases (specifically Postgres), while possessing the ability to contribute to frontend (ReactJS) development when needed
  • Proven ability to architect resilient, scalable distributed systems (microservices, event-driven)
  • Extensive hands-on experience architecting, building, deploying, and managing production workloads across diverse AWS services (DynamoDB, Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway and more), focusing on security, scalability, and cost optimization. AWS certifications are a plus
  • Strong proficiency in backend development (Node.js, TypeScript), API design, and relational databases (Postgres)
  • Bachelor's/Master's in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical leadership experience
  • You thrive on owning critical systems shaping their evolution and driving initiatives to success
  • Possess strong business acumen to align technical strategy with evolving business priorities
  • Adept at thoughtfully leveraging AI development tools to boost productivity and quality
  • Exceptional communicator, articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Inclusive cross-functional leader, guiding teams and managing trade-offs effectively
  • Dedicated mentor, passionate about growing fellow engineers
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and deliver results in a fast-paced, remote environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead & Build: Spearhead the design and development of complex, high-impact features and services, leveraging AWS to ensure scalable, reliable platforms
  • Elevate Engineering: Champion and evolve software development and system design best practices, lead by example in code reviews and drive initiatives that boost quality and innovation
  • Mentor & Grow Team: Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers in areas like system design and AWS architecture, fostering their growth while you make significant technical contributions
  • Own Critical Problem Solving: Identify, diagnose, and decisively resolve complex technical and system-level production issues, helping our team convert and leverage more AWS where possible

Preferred Qualifications
