Staff Infrastructure Engineer

Summary

Join Northbeam, a rapidly growing company building a leading marketing intelligence platform, as an Infrastructure Engineer. You will be a key player in creating a scalable, observable, and reliable platform. Responsibilities include managing CI/CD, security, DR policies, and capacity planning, among others. This role requires significant experience with GCP or other major cloud providers, scripting and automation, and observability tools. You will collaborate with various teams and create useful technical documentation. Requirements

• Have solid hands-on experience with GCP (or another major cloud provider) and a knack for automating infrastructure
• Know your way around IAM, VPCs, and compute instances
• Be proficient in scripting languages like Python and Bash
• Have extensive experience with IaC tools like Terraform
• Have basic familiarity with SQL
• Be familiar with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog)
• Have experience with SSL Certs, API Gateways, Docker network shenanigans, network segmentation, NGINX configs, VPC Peering, load balancers, proxies
• Have a track record of solving complex technical issues, and staying cool under pressure
• Be comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, data, product, and management teams to design and implement solutions
• Be able to write clear, concise technical documentation that other humans can actually follow

Responsibilities

• Work with a small engineering team to create a scaleable, observable, reliable platform
• Manage CI/CD and dev infrastructure
• Manage security
• Manage DR policies
• Manage SSL cert management and DNS
• Manage Infrastructure as Code
• Manage capacity planning and budgeting
• Manage observability
• Develop scaling plans and automation
• Provide guidance for best use of cloud infrastructure
• Craft a proposal for managing capacity reservations
• Optimize cloud server instances and automate the upgrade rollout
• Help figure out how alerts, logs, and deployments should work for a service moving to a serverless backend
• Automate provisioning GCP projects
• Hunt down the root causes of noisy alerts and tweak configurations
• Work with management to make secure development policies straightforward
• Track down the cause of a 500 error
• Keep our infrastructure humming as we grow—enhance, maintain, and iterate to keep everything running smoothly
• Create technical documentation

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience working in marketing, e-commerce, or ad-tech
• Have an understanding of secure development practices and experience supporting audits or certifications (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001)
• Have experience with infrastructure not deployed to a “cloud”
• Have experience with capacity planning and AWS/GCP cost optimization
• Have an understanding of database admin process and automation (user provisioning, backups, cloning and replication, index management, etc)
