Staff Infrastructure Engineer, Cloud Data Store

Summary

Join Temporal, an open-source programming model company, as a Staff Software Infrastructure Engineer on the Cloud Data Store team. This team is focused on reimagining cloud storage and building a customized persistence layer for Temporal, tackling challenging distributed systems problems related to databases and cloud storage. You will contribute to system architecture, optimize cloud use and scalability, and maintain a culture of engineering excellence. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, performing design reviews, engaging with stakeholders, and leveraging Temporal's software for infrastructure at scale. You will also be responsible for sharing design principles, fostering a learning environment, and contributing to long-term roadmaps.

Requirements

• Experience contributing to complex cross-team engineering efforts focused on cloud, compute, networking and storage infrastructure
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills
• You are comfortable driving alignment across an organization and contributing to long-term roadmaps
• Demonstrated ability to make system-level tradeoffs
• At least 7 years coding experience (Go, Python, Java, or other applicable language) and experience writing concurrent code
• Experience designing and running highly available and fault-tolerant systems
• Hands-on experience with networking, security controls, compute, block storage, and object storage services provided by AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Experience working with infrastructure as code tools such as Pulumi, Terraform, or Cloud Formation
• Kubernetes management experience is essential and operator development experience is a plus
• Experience working with databases
