Join Affirm's Merchant and Platform Engineering team as a Staff Partner Solutions Engineer and provide technical leadership to Commercial and Product Partnership teams, supporting large cross-functional programs. Represent Affirm's engineering team and technologies to partners like Shopify and Stripe, driving technical and business strategy. This role involves operational support for partner requests, collaborating on solution design, and managing long-term initiatives. The ideal candidate fosters engineering excellence and innovation, collaborates effectively with engineers, and has a proven track record of delivering results. You will be responsible for providing day-to-day technical support to external partners, leading project planning and development, creating integration support materials, collaborating with various teams on roadmaps, serving as an SME for technical challenges, maintaining communication with partners, working cross-functionally, providing feedback on strategies, and ensuring project success. Requirements
- 6+ years experience in a Solutions Engineering, Partner Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or customer-facing Software Engineering experience
- Ability to read and understand multiple programming languages
- Experience with long-term project planning and execution
- Experience with Ecommerce or Payment Processor technologies
- Thorough understanding of JSON, HTML, REST API, and Webhook technologies
- Thorough understanding of the following concepts: integrating UX elements w/ backend services, frameworks, and 3rd party developer APIs
- Experience with observability tools and applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong project management skills, capable of influencing internal and external stakeholders to stay on schedule
- Passion and drive to change consumer banking for the better
Responsibilities
- Provide day to day support for technical questions from external partner stakeholders
- Lead the development of project plans by driving solution designs, timeline forecasting, task break-down, and testing strategy
- Develop integration support material and documentation for new products rollouts and feature updates
- Collaborate with Product, Eng, and Revenue leadership to build out partnership roadmaps
- Serves as an overarching SME and point of escalation for internal and external teams facing technical challenges
- Maintain clear, professional, and proactive communication with external partners to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables, while fostering strong, long-term relationships
- Work cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination, share insights, and drive projects to successful completion while maintaining open and constructive communication
- Provide feedback on integration strategy, potential product enhancements, and operational workflows
