Summary

Join Chainguard, a leader in secure open-source software, as a Software Engineer. You will contribute to the development and maintenance of our core infrastructure and development platform, focusing on improving our data story and supporting analytical needs. This role involves maintaining and expanding analytics data and dashboards, managing our primary database, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and developing core services. You will leverage your experience in database administration, data engineering, and software development to build and scale our platform. Requirements

  • Experience with database administration, using a SQL dialect
  • Experience in data engineering, with a background in data architecture, data modeling and data management
  • Comfortable working and thriving within a Linux ecosystem
  • Experience supporting high availability distributed production systems
  • Treated infrastructure as code utilizing tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, and SaltStack
  • Familiarity working in a public cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure)
  • Software development skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, Go, Javascript, and/or Ruby
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field or equivalent in related work experience
  • Strong English language skills and ability to work independently, as an effective part of a globally distributed team
  • Ability to learn about the supply chain security space

Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and expand our analytics data and dashboards
  • Maintain our primary database and schema
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Develop and maintain core services for Chainguard
  • Practice continuous improvement, by iterating on how services are deployed, configured, monitored, and maintained on our platform

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using dbt, BigQuery and Google Cloud Storage
  • Experience using Kafka or Spark in designing data processing pipelines
  • Experience integrating with Looker or other BI tools
  • Experience scaling services in a performant and cost-effective manner
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization (Docker/OCI, Kubernetes)
  • Linux systems troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Interest in open source software projects and communities
