Staff Software Engineer

Requirements

• Deep domain expertise in the e-commerce platform world: product catalogs, content management, marketplaces, pricing, promotional offers, and discounts
• Experience at scale by working on high throughput, low latency systems that power our commerce flows
• Backend and data experience. We work across multiple stacks for web, desktop, and mobile, but this role will primarily be backend focused. You should have deep experience with platforms, tools and frameworks similar to Python Flask, GCP, Postgres, BigQuery, analytics tools such as Looker and Mode, and observability tools like Datadog

• 8+ years of experience, 4+ in relevant roles

Responsibilities

• Act as a technical leader and domain expert on e-commerce product catalog data modeling that will enable us to build world-class shopping experiences, content recommendations, and promotions that serve low latency content to our Shop UIs
• Be a strategic partner with engineering, product, and cross functional leadership to advise and chart out pathways to scaling revenue operations and business lines
• Partner with Product, Design, CX, Data Science, and feature teams across the company to evolve Discord’s commerce platform and expand its capabilities
• Provide feature teams with tools and platform support needed to spin up new monetization products
• Improve the reliability, observability, and stability of Discord’s commerce systems
