Summary

Join Honeycomb's growing product engineering team as a Product Engineer and contribute to building pivotal features for our platform. You will make key decisions impacting the technical and product roadmap, lead software delivery, mentor other engineers, and influence company strategy. This role requires deep backend application development experience, proven team leadership, and strong communication skills. Requirements

  • Deep experience in backend application development with experience in frontend development
  • Supported high throughput systems in the past and are familiar with the challenges common with browser applications
  • Have a sense of how to balance risks and engineering efforts and are open to learning the specific languages, skills, and technologies we use by working here
  • Experience leading team through experiment-first product delivery cycles
  • Experience leading teams with software in production

Responsibilities

  • Make meaningful decisions that guide technical and product roadmap
  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of quality software
  • Write code across the full application stack, primarily on the backend in Golang
  • Do some work in React and TypeScript
  • Deliver impactful code that is well-tested to maintain a high level of code quality without spending an ever-growing amount of time maintaining those tests
  • Plan and lead complex, multi-team, or system, long-term projects, including ones with external dependencies while collaborating with product and design
  • Support other engineers within the team and beyond
  • Mentor other engineers as they build their skills
  • Pair, review code, and communicate daily with your team
  • Give and receive thoughtful feedback on Pull Requests as you work in our shared code repositories
  • Act as a multiplier who shares knowledge and delegates to help others grow
  • Define and influence company goals and strategy
  • Identify new business growth opportunities
  • Work to define and model the team’s engineering brand, process, and patterns
