Summary
Join Contentful as a Technical Leader for Analytics to lead the next stage of an evolving Analytics product. Requirements
- Extensive experience building and scaling data-intensive products, ensuring system scalability and performance under high-volume workloads, ideally handling billions of events daily
- Demonstrated ability to craft end-to-end system architectures and oversee their implementation
- Strong coding skills and commercial experience with server-side TypeScript
- Proven track record in designing APIs and protocols for high-traffic, enterprise-grade applications
- Familiarity with modern data engineering practices and frameworks
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work autonomously and propose innovative solutions
- Strong collaboration skills, with the capacity to build consensus and alignment across different product lines and teams
- Customer-centric approach, comfortable engaging with clients to understand their challenges and incorporate their feedback
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written), capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ideally, you have several years of experience working with high-throughput, customer-facing analytics or data platforms. This may include leading analytics providers, large-scale consumer or streaming platforms, AdTech or observability vendors, or high-volume eCommerce environments. Any setting where youβve managed massive streams of event data and delivered timely insights will help you excel in this role
- Proven success in B2B enterprise product environments, delivering scalable and secure solutions to demanding customers
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the end-to-end architecture of our analytics platform, from ensuring seamless integration through our SDKs, over event ingestion APIs to data pipelines and processing down to the query layer
- Establish strategies for scalability, resilience, and performance optimization to reliably handle billions of events every day
- Provide hands-on guidance in clearing bottlenecks and resolving challenging technical issues within data pipelines, APIs, and backend systems
- Mentor and guide engineers to see how their work fits into the bigger picture, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages diverse perspectives and supports informed technical decision-making
- Partner with senior leadership and product leaders to shape the product roadmap, ensuring technical feasibility aligns with strategic business goals
- Stay attuned to customer needs, participating in discussions and calls to understand requirements and shape the platformβs technical direction
- Offer architectural insight that transcends individual components, keeping the bigger picture in focus
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team to contribute code and architectural artifacts, setting a high quality bar through shared best practices
- Together with your colleagues, design and optimize data pipelines using modern tools and frameworks (e.g., GCP BigQuery, PubSub, Dataflow, Dataform)
- Work as a team to architect and implement APIs and protocols for high-traffic, customer-facing data products using TypeScript, leveraging modern cloud-native and serverless architectures
- Collaboratively deploy and operate statistical and machine learning models in production, ensuring reliability, scalability, and long-term maintainability
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud-native experience is a big plus - our data stack is built on GCP and the Cloudflare Workers Platform
