Staff Software Engineer

This position involves architecting APIs, data models, and infrastructure for various teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software engineering, Ruby on Rails, and React, along with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Ontra offers a competitive compensation package, including a base pay range of $200,000-$300,000 USD, equity grants, and various benefits.

Requirements

• Expertise: 10+ years in software engineering, 6+ years developing in Ruby on Rails, and 3+ years with React
• Results-driven approach: Proven experience delivering features and solutions that have a direct impact on revenue growth, savings, or operational efficiencies
• Problem Solving Skills: Ability to tackle complex technical problems with creativity and efficiency
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication across technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Exploration: Play a crucial role in helping Ontra explore and prototype solutions. Contribute to discovering new solutions to problems
• Contribute to Engineering Culture: Provide engineering prospective and help set engineering best practices
• Set Technical Direction: Speak for Ontra's technology and engineering culture. Take a long term and pragmatic view of technological progress and how to maintain Ontra's technology stack
• Be The Glue: Help teams by doing the invisible and unneeded tasks needed to effectively ship software and proactively spot risks
