Summary
Join ThisWay Global, a company tackling complex engineering challenges at the intersection of AI and high-performance computing, as a Staff Software Engineer. You will spearhead the design, implementation, and evolution of distributed systems supporting crucial AI workloads. Collaborate with expert peers, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the roadmap for scalable, secure, and high-performance backend services. This role demands a passion for pushing boundaries while maintaining a pragmatic approach to production systems. We offer a remote work environment, welcoming applicants from major tech hubs. The position requires significant experience in systems or backend development and proficiency in Rust or a similar language.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience in systems or backend development
- Strong proficiency in Rust (or deep expertise in another systems-level language with the ability to pivot)
- Experience with parallel computing frameworks (OpenMP, CUDA, MPI, etc.) or distributed compute infrastructure
- Track record of shipping scalable, secure production systems
- Strong architectural instincts and a bias toward clarity, simplicity, and performance
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and based in the United States
Responsibilities
- Architect and build distributed software systems in Rust that power AI and HPC platforms
- Solve high-complexity problems in system design, performance optimization, and data integrity
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate business goals into technical strategy
- Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical feedback
- Champion development best practices, system observability, and secure-by-default architecture
- Stay current with new technologies and bring forward innovations that improve the stack
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HPC, HTC, or low-latency infrastructure
- Familiarity with ISO-compliant or NIST-informed security practices
- Background in startups, research labs, or environments where precision and scale meet
- Based in or near a major tech hub (e.g., Boston, Bay Area, Pittsburgh, Austin, Seattle, NYC)
