Join Maze as a Staff Engineer on the Product Engineering team and lead the design and delivery of high-impact features. You will design and build features impacting customer experience, architect scalable solutions, set technical standards, partner with product and design teams, remove blockers, mentor engineers, and research new tools and frameworks. Requirements

  • 8+ years building user facing applications; 3+ years at Staff or Principal level
  • Deep expertise in modern full stack JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js + React) and relational databases (PostgreSQL)
  • Proven track record delivering high quality features at scale and improving team velocity
  • Strong communicator who can influence across technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Skilled in performance optimization, maintainability, and security best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to accelerate teams through technical improvements
  • Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction
  • Hands on experience delivering complex features from concept to production
  • Understanding of performance optimization, maintainability, and security in web applications
  • Pragmatic decision maker balancing innovation with stability
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions while advocating for engineering best practices

Responsibilities

  • Design and build features and systems that directly impact the customer experience
  • Architect scalable, maintainable solutions for complex product challenges
  • Set technical standards, patterns, and practices that raise the engineering bar
  • Partner with product and design to shape solutions from concept to delivery
  • Remove blockers, improve workflows, and enable teams to deliver faster
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across teams
  • Research, prototype, and introduce new tools, frameworks, and patterns

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Next.js, NestJS, GraphQL, and/or TypeScript at scale
  • Experience architecting high-scale systems on AWS and/or Kubernetes
  • Strong perspective on UX, UI design, and the research space
