Summary
Join IXL Learning as a part-time Standards Aligner and contribute to the development of personalized learning products used globally. This 6-month (with possible extension) remote, 1099 consulting role involves aligning IXL science skills with state educational standards, international curriculum documents, and widely-adopted textbooks for high school biology, chemistry, and/or physics. Your alignments will directly impact teachers and students worldwide. You will interpret standards, identify matching IXL skills, evaluate skill-textbook alignment, format alignments in Google spreadsheets, and collaborate with curriculum designers. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1+ years of experience aligning content to state standards. A strong knowledge of K-12 science terminology and high school science content is essential.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or a closely related field
- 1+ years of experience aligning content to state standards
- Strong knowledge of K-12 educational terminology and science content, with emphasis on high school biology, chemistry, and/or physics
- Detail-oriented and highly organized
- Ability to work independently
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret state educational standards and curriculum documents
- Identify the IXL skills that best help students meet the goals of each standard
- Evaluate how closely IXL skills match textbook sections; suggest adjustments to improve fit
- Format alignments as Google spreadsheets
- Assist in researching state and international education standards
- Collaborate with curriculum designers to determine the best possible alignments
Preferred Qualifications
- Teaching experience in secondary science
- Knowledge of additional subject areas
- Basic knowledge of Google Sheets or Excel
