Structural Design Engineer

Join our team as a Structural Design Engineer (Staff & Senior) in Houston, TX, and contribute to critical project phases with precision. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with other engineering disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship required
• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Proficiency with structural design software such as STAAD, STAAD Pro, RISA3D, and Mathcad
• Strong knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes, including DOE orders
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including project management, clients, and subcontractors
• Experience providing engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services on large industrial or government projects
• Intermediate to advanced computer and software skills (MS Office suite, CAD, etc.)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in structural engineering
• Ability to perform intermediate complexity engineering assignments under supervision
• Proficiency in designing systems for large industrial or commercial projects
• Experience performing structural analysis and modeling, including wind and seismic loading considerations

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to the design, development, and review of structural engineering specifications, including calculations for concrete, steel, and foundation designs
• Analyze complex structural problems and provide independent recommendations for technical solutions
• Develop and check engineering designs using hand calculations, as well as software such as STAAD, STAADPro, and RISA3D
• Provide technical support during procurement activities, including the preparation of scopes of work and evaluation of vendor bids
• Provide technical support during construction, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) and addressing field changes
• Ensure all work is executed in compliance with project quality standards and adheres to approved scope, cost, and schedule baselines
• Collaborate with other disciplines and provide coordination for technical issues with project management, clients, and vendors

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with structural design for nuclear facilities, including knowledge of ASME NQA-1 standards
• Experience in the design of systems, structures, and components for nuclear or government facilities
• Field experience in construction or large project implementation
• Practical experience in dynamic analysis, blast design, and modeling of complex structures
