Summary
Join the Codex Student Program (CSP), a research and development opportunity for Master's and PhD students interested in decentralized web technologies. The program focuses on data availability sampling and decentralized storage, offering a stipend and mobility grants. Students will work under the supervision of a Codex team member, contributing to projects related to blockchain scaling, distributed systems, and storage solutions. Successful applicants will demonstrate proficiency in P2P networking, distributed systems, databases, consensus algorithms, and multiple programming languages. The program offers flexibility in terms of duration and stipend amount, adapting to different experience levels and regional costs.
Requirements
- Be proficient in P2P networking, TCP, UDP, QUIC, and other low-level network protocols
- Be proficient in distributed hash tables (DHTs) and distributed storage
- Be proficient in databases such as PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, etc
- Be proficient in consensus algorithms like GHOST, Casper, and others
- Be proficient in blockchain protocols such as Proof of Work and Proof of Stake, etc
- Be proficient in multiple programming languages, including Go, Python, Rust, Nim, etc
- Be an officially enrolled Master's or PhD student at a university pursuing a degree in Computer Sciences or a related field
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development in data availability sampling for scaling blockchains
- Perform large-scale simulations of distributed systems
- Develop peer-to-peer overlays and communication protocols
- Conduct statistical testing and property verification
- Perform data visualization and analysis
- Develop decentralized storage solutions
- Optimize erasure coding for large-scale distributed storage
- Develop proofs of data retrievability and other storage-related proofs
- Apply game theory in the context of incentivized storage
- Conduct storage performance measurement and testing
- Participate in weekly meetings to discuss progress and raise questions or concerns
- Produce a clear end-of-CSP deliverable (software, report, or talk)
