Systems Engineer II

Summary

Join Viator's Engineering Platform Team as a Senior Software Engineer and contribute to the Developer Experience (DevX) team. You will work at the core of our platform, ensuring developers have the tools and environment for maximum productivity. Collaborate with product engineers and product owners to co-design solutions balancing feature delivery and quality. Evangelize DevOps and DevX culture, leading innovation across the engineering team. This role requires experience in software or systems engineering, strong communication skills, and the ability to mentor team members. Requirements

• Have 2+ years experience working as a software or systems engineer
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to write documentation and align internal team members
• Have confidence to participate in technical discussions
• Have the ability to guide and mentor other members within the team and improve the way we collaborate, learn, and share ideas
• Have experience with scripting (shell or python) or object oriented language like Java or Go

Responsibilities

• Be part of the Developer Experience (DevX) team working at the core part of our platform, ensuring developers have the right tools, processes, and environment to maximise productivity and create the greatest business value possible
• Evangelise DevOps and DevX culture and lead the innovation across the wider engineering team
• Collaborate and work closely with product engineers and product owners to understand their context and co-design appropriate solutions which balance feature delivery and quality

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience with security tooling, automation, scripting, and CI/CD using open-source libraries, Gitlab and Terraform
• Have experience working with a DevOps approach for delivery and operations of services
• Have demonstrated experience developing AWS or other cloud native applications
