Summary

The position involves assisting in preparing and reviewing responses to tax authority inquiries, conducting tax research, analyzing client financial records, preparing documentation for tax controversy cases, collaborating with senior team members, participating in client meetings, supporting report preparation, and maintaining accurate records. A bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field is required, along with 1-3 years of relevant experience. Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills are essential. Proficiency in tax research tools and software is also needed. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 1-3 years of experience in tax compliance, audit, or controversy work, preferably in a public accounting firm or law firm
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
  • Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in tax research tools and software, such as CCH, RIA, and Bloomberg Tax
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and review of responses to tax authority inquiries, notices, and audit requests
  • Conduct research on various tax issues and stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
  • Analyze client financial records and documentation to support tax positions and dispute resolutions
  • Prepare and organize documentation for tax controversy cases, including audit defense files, appeals, and litigation support
  • Collaborate with senior team members to develop strategies for resolving tax disputes and achieving favorable outcomes for clients
  • Participate in client meetings and conference calls to discuss tax controversy matters and provide updates on case progress
  • Support the preparation of presentations and reports for clients and internal stakeholders
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all tax controversy activities and communications

Preferred Qualifications

CPA, JD, or other relevant certifications
