Join AlphaSense as a Taxonomist to design, develop, and maintain comprehensive taxonomic structures for our market intelligence platform. You will play a critical role in enhancing content discoverability and improving user experience. The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of information architecture, content organization, and metadata management. Responsibilities include classifying and tagging content, developing and evolving taxonomic structures, auditing and optimizing existing taxonomies, collaborating with sales and marketing, and reviewing new approaches for efficient categorization. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field and 1+ years of experience in taxonomy development are required. Strong computer skills, analytical abilities, and excellent communication are essential.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Library Science, Information Science, Information Management, or a related field
- 1+ years of experience in taxonomy development, information architecture, knowledge management, or a similar role, preferably in market research
- Strong Computer Skills a must
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as research skills to drive content understanding
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and consistency
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently organize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Consistent, accurate, and timely categorization of high volume of newly-loaded content, aided by maintaining robust classification rules, guidelines, and vocabularies
- Design, create, and evolve hierarchical, faceted, and other taxonomic structures to organize content types according to business needs and user behavior
- Regularly audit existing taxonomies for effectiveness, identify gaps, redundancies, and opportunities for refinement, and lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Work with sales and marketing to enhance discoverability of categorized content
- Constant review of new approaches, with eye to more efficient and more accurate categorization of content
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all taxonomic structures, guidelines, and processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), taxonomy management software and similar tools a plus
- Knowledge of specific industry-related ontologies or standards a plus
