Tech Lead

As a Tech Lead, you will play a strategic role, serving as a technical reference and team leader, balancing technical expertise, people leadership, and project management. You will define team objectives, facilitate communication, participate in team member development, collaborate with other technical leaders, and ensure technical quality. You will promote AI-assisted engineering practices, guide conversations to remove blockers, collaborate with the Product Owner, and ensure implementation of quality and observability standards. Lead retrospectives and support team staffing and individual development goals. This role requires a strong technical background, leadership experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

• Academic background oriented toward computer science, engineering, or software development disciplines
• Proven track record of leading teams and working in product-driven companies
• Hands-on experience in backend (Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, PostgreSQL, AWS) and optionally frontend development, with a track record of delivering scalable systems
• A solid understanding of how web and mobile applications work including security, session management, and best development practices
• Knowledge of relational database systems and Object Oriented Programming
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and experience designing or maintaining microservices-based systems
• Ability to work and thrive in a fast-paced environment, learn rapidly and master diverse web and mobile technologies and techniques
• Practical experience applying AI frameworks in development projects
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience with agile methodologies
• Advanced Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills
• Ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Competence in defining clear objectives and ensuring the team meets project milestones
• Experience guiding and leading teams to successful project deliveries within deadlines and budgets

Responsibilities

• Define team objectives and project goals, ensuring alignment with the company's broader strategies and objectives
• Facilitate communication within the squad and across technical and non-technical teams, ensuring alignment and timely delivery of high-quality outcomes
• Actively participating in the recruitment, training, and development of team members, fostering a productive and growth-oriented environment
• Collaborating with other technical leaders, aligning technology strategies and contributing to the evolution of the company's technical direction
• Ensuring the technical quality of deliverables, providing guidance and support in solving complex problems
• Promote the adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices within your squad and chapter, leveraging tools for code generation, automated refactoring, test case creation, and technical documentation. Identify opportunities where AI can enhance developer productivity, code quality, and team velocity
• Guide conversations to remove blockers and encourage collaboration in your team
• Collaborate with the Product Owner to ensure technical initiatives, such as refactoring, performance tuning, and tech debt—are properly scoped and prioritized within the product backlog
• Ensure implementation of quality and observability standards, including automated testing, monitoring, alerting, and logging across the development lifecycle
• Lead retrospectives and continuous improvement efforts, driving team evolution through feedback and actionable insights
• Support team staffing decisions by matching people to tasks based on skills, priorities, and development opportunities
• Support the definition and follow-up of individual development goals aligned with team objectives and business priorities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Python is a plus
• Experience with asynchronous programming
• Experience working with domains of medium to high complexity
• Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, facilitating alignment and decision-making
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Product Managers, Product Owners, Squad Leaders, Designers, and other teams, tribes or squads in defining priorities and delivering value
• Experience mentoring engineers, guiding career development, and fostering a growth-oriented, high-performance team environment
• Capacity to make thoughtful, context-aware decisions that balance technical debt, delivery speed, and business impact
• Ability to recognize team dynamics, support team members through challenges, and cultivate psychological safety
• Proactive in owning outcomes, addressing blockers, and ensuring that the squad delivers on commitments
• Comfortable working in changing environments, reprioritizing as needed, and adjusting to new business or technical demands
• Skilled in managing disagreements constructively and promoting consensus through dialogue
• Capable of influencing product and technical decisions at squad level and beyond, aligning technical initiatives with broader company goals
• Oriented toward retrospectives, feedback loops, and implementing process and culture improvements
• High degree of autonomy and accountability, with a bias for action and results-oriented problem solving
• Comfort operating at both strategic and hands-on levels, flexing between system design and stakeholder engagement as needed
• Ability to make decisions based on accurate information, technical indicators, and impact metrics, using data to prioritize initiatives, guide trade-offs, and measure success
• As a Tech Leader, you bring practical familiarity with one or more core financial domains, such as lending, payments, credit cards, open finance, fraud prevention, merchant acquiring, or investment services, and understand the operational workflows, regulatory considerations, and business impact that shape these areas
• You leverage this knowledge not only to guide the technical implementation of backend solutions, such as payment orchestration, fraud-detection services, or onboarding flows, but also to collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and business stakeholders in defining priorities and making trade-offs that balance technical feasibility with strategic objectives
• Your role involves translating domain-specific requirements into actionable tasks, mentoring engineers to understand the business context behind their work, and ensuring the team delivers solutions that are robust, compliant, and aligned with customer needs
• You help the squad connect technical work with revenue, performance, and user experience outcomes, creating an environment where engineers contribute with full awareness of business impact
