Technical Lead II

Summary

Join HubSpot's Schemas Backend team as a Technical Lead II and lead a small team of engineers in managing schema definition and validation systems. You will collaborate with Product, Design, and other Tech Leads to define team goals, resolve cross-team issues, and proactively ensure on-call health and product reliability. As a player-coach, you will mentor and grow team members, fostering a diverse and inclusive culture. The ideal candidate is a strong senior engineer with experience leading small teams, a passion for technical challenges in machine learning and distributed systems, and a customer-centric approach. • Have an understanding of building reliable systems in a complex architectural space

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of engineers
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other Tech Leads to define and share relevant, compelling, and challenging goals for their team
• Work across teams with other TLs to resolve cross-team issues
• Proactively take ownership over their team’s on-call health and product reliability, and quality
• Have an interest and opinion in the direction of the product
• Proactively look to grow the members of their team to enable them to take on harder and harder tasks
• Actively cultivate Software Engineers into Sr. Software Engineers and Sr. Software Engineers into future TLs and Staff Engineers, etc
• Evaluate the performance of their team members and provide them with the necessary coaching, guidance and learning opportunities to help them grow in their careers
• Create and foster diverse teams and an inclusive culture
