Summary

Join Benesch, a growing planning, engineering, and professional services firm, as a Technical Writer Intern to support our Railroad User Support team in developing comprehensive user guides and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This role offers a work-from-home schedule with flexibility to work from various offices. The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, familiarity with technical documentation, and an interest or experience in the railroad industry or civil engineering.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Computer Science or a related field
  • Strong writing and editing skills with an emphasis on clarity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with creating technical documentation, user guides, and SOPs, especially in a technical or engineering context
  • Basic understanding of software applications and user support processes
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a team-oriented mindset
  • Interest or experience in the railroad industry or civil engineering is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Benesch's Railroad User Support team to create, write, and publish detailed user guides and SOPs tailored to the needs of our railroad clients
  • Work closely with software developers, engineers, and user support specialists to gather information and ensure the accuracy and usability of documentation
  • Ensure all documentation aligns with Benesch’s standards and effectively supports our clients’ operations
  • Provide assistance with desk help tickets, offering user support and troubleshooting as needed to maintain smooth operations for our railroad clients
  • Continuously update and refine documentation as software features and client needs evolve
