Summary

Join Rackspace Technology as a Trainee Database Engineer and contribute to database engineering and administration. You will assist with database installation, configuration, maintenance, monitoring, and security. Responsibilities include working with cloud platforms, automation tools, and scripting languages. You will also participate in backup and recovery processes and collaborate with other teams. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with a bachelor's degree preferred, and 6 months to 1 year of experience. The position is remote in India and requires rotational shifts, including nights.

Requirements

  • Understanding of Relational Databases: A strong grasp of relational database concepts, normalization, ACID properties and the principles of data organization and storage
  • SQL Fundamentals: Knowledge in writing and understanding SQL queries, data manipulation (DML) and data definition (DDL) statements, as well as a basic understanding of joins, Indexes and procedures
  • Knowledge of public cloud platforms and databases available on Public Cloud
  • Knowledge of Cloud Databases on PAAS and IAAS platforms
  • Understanding of different databases flavors like relations and non-relational like document DB/Graph databases/Key-value pair database
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or a directly related field
  • 6 months - 1 yrs of experience

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of databases
  • Usages of public cloud hyperscale portal for database operations
  • Basic usages of automation tools and scripting (Python/PowerShell/Ansible/Shell Scripts/TSQL/PLSQL) and cloud native tools like terraforms, Git/GitHub
  • Monitoring database performance, finding and addressing bottlenecks
  • Assisting in implementing and testing regular backups of databases, as well as participating in database recovery processes in the event of failures or disasters
  • Assisting in implementing and maintaining database security, including managing user access, permissions, and roles to ensure data confidentiality and integrity
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure effective knowledge transfer and compliance with organizational standards
  • Collaborating with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to support database-related initiatives and projects
