Transportation Environmental Planner/Scientist

Summary

Rincon Consultants is seeking an experienced Environmental Planner/Scientist with a focus on transportation projects to conduct research, field work, impact analysis, report preparation, and business development. The role offers remote work within California and a hybrid/remote work arrangement. Base salary range is $68,000-$104,000 plus benefits and bonus.

Requirements

• BS/BA Degree in applicable field and 8+ years of increasingly responsible experience required
• Demonstrated familiarity with NEPA, CEQA, and the related federal and California environmental processes
• Excellent verbal and written skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead a large multi-disciplinary team
• Excellent organization, schedule and budget management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Willingness to travel as projects require

Responsibilities

• Write and manage the preparation of complex CEQA/NEPA documents for roadway, transit, and rail projects
• Interface with clients and make public presentations to agency decision-making bodies
• Perform agency consultation and ensure environmental regulatory compliance
• Perform various business development functions, including proposal preparation and active involvement in transportation-related planning/environmental organizations

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Degree (Masters/PhD) preferred
• Experience in a private environmental consulting firm preferred
• Experience working with and/or for Metro, Caltrans, FTA, FHWA and/or local or a regional transportation/transit agency preferred
