Summary

The job involves providing college advising services to high school students applying to pre-med or BS/MD programs as a part of a team that includes a physician advisor. The role requires up-to-date knowledge of college admissions trends, industry standards, and new developments. The position is remote, seasonal, and offers a part-time, contract role with compensation based on a Relative Value Unit (RVU) system.

Requirements

  • BA/BS from an accredited institution, master's preferred
  • Prior experience as a undergraduate admissions officer for a highly selective institution and/or significant prior experience advising undergraduate applicants applying to highly selective institutions
  • Management-level undergraduate admissions experience is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all areas of the undergraduate admissions process—application through acceptance
  • Familiarity with BS/MD (direct med) and pre-med programs
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to provide coaching and feedback in a clear and timely manner
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort with MS Word and/or Google Docs (for editing content)

Responsibilities

  • Help the student navigate the Common App
  • Provide consistent and supportive advising
  • Build school lists that reflect the student’s goals and interests
  • Prepare the student for interviews
