Summary

Join Attune's Underwriting Operations Team as a proactive problem-solver passionate about the intersection of underwriting and technology. This role focuses on optimizing the underwriting process, selecting optimal risks for carrier partners, and building strong broker/agent relationships. You will review and assess insurance applications, deploy small business underwriting expertise, provide administrative support, and assist in risk exposure evaluation. The position requires 1-3 years of P&C small business underwriting experience and a demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment. Requirements

  • 1 to 3 years of Property and Casualty small business experience, on or supporting the Underwriting team
  • Direct experience with commercial lines insurance products includes the Business Owners’ Policy but experience with CPP and/or monoline GL/property is acceptable
  • Proven ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment, especially in risk selection and handling escalations within assigned underwriting authority
  • Demonstrated desire and capacity to expand expertise, develop new skills, and grow professionally
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative to address job responsibilities
  • Must be detail-oriented with the ability to compile, evaluate, and interpret detailed information and data
  • Willingness to take on other responsibilities as needed in a dynamic work environment

Responsibilities

  • Review and assess insurance policy applications, endorsements, and related documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Deploy small business underwriting expertise for Business Owners’ policies to ensure Attune’s risk selection is in line with the guidelines set by our carrier partners, and to ensure we maximize our underwriting profit and product mix over time
  • Provide administrative support to underwriters
  • Assist in the evaluation and assessment of risk exposures on the portfolio level
  • Maintain knowledge of technical underwriting processes and/or research information if needed; participate in ongoing training
  • Stay up-to-date with insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements
  • Respond to inquiries and provide assistance to clients and brokers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Provide assistance in the development of new processes and workflows
  • Exercise a high degree of independent judgment as it relates to risk selection and handling of escalations within assigned underwriting authority
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members
  • Follow company policies and guidelines in all underwriting activities
  • Ad hoc projects as needed

Preferred Qualifications

AU, AINS, or equivalent designation or significant progress made toward designation a plus
