Venture Capital/Startups Fellow

Summary

Join our VC/Startups team as a reporting fellow and spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists. Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling, producing real work that is distributed to our audience of millions.

Requirements

• Experience reporting and writing
• A curiosity about, if not interest in, the technology, startups and venture capital industry
• A willingness and confidence to take the initiative to make calls and chase down interviews
• A passion for digital storytelling, voracious reading habits, and familiarity with digital and social media
• Ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced global team
• A self-starter attitude and excellent organizational skills
• Solid proofreading/copy editing skills and light HTML/Photoshop experience

Responsibilities

• Pitch daily story ideas and work with your editor to cover compelling startup and VC stories
• Conduct interviews with sources and pitch features, lists, and other story formats
• Produce stories that are accurate, properly researched, error-free, and in line with Insider reporting standards and guidelines
• Learn and become adept at Insider’s style of headline writing and Business Insider SEO practices

• Fellows are paid $20 per hour (overtime when needed and approved)
