Summary
Join our team as a Veterinarian I β Pork Live Production! This remote position requires direct interaction with company producers and oversight of health protocols for wean-to-market operations in the Midwest. You will handle farm health issues, develop action plans, and communicate with production management and Tech Services. Responsibilities include assessing health issues, collaborating on improved processes, conducting farm evaluations, and training farms on health-related SOPs. This role involves significant travel and requires a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine with three years of related experience (veterinary college time counts). Licensure in Indiana and Illinois (and potentially other Midwest states) is required or the willingness to obtain it.
Requirements
- Possess a Doctorate degree in Veterinary Medicine with the ability to practice Veterinary Medicine in the United States
- Have three or more years of related experience (time in veterinary college counts towards experience)
- Possess standard computer skills; may require use of the Tyson Business Computer System
- Have good verbal and written communication skills
- Have licensure or be willing to obtain licensure in Indiana and Illinois and potentially other midwest states
- Have a thorough understanding of diseases and disorders detrimental to the welfare of swine
- Use safe lifting techniques
- Follow required safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment when visiting facilities
- Bio-secure environments; shower before entering facilities when visiting jobsites
- Follow the Company Animal Welfare Policy at all times
Responsibilities
- Directly interact with company producers and oversee health-related protocols for wean-to-market operations located in the Midwest
- Handle health-related farm issues
- Determine both immediate and long-term action plans to address health issues and communicate them with production management and Tech Services
- Work with farm personnel to assess health issues and coordinate with the Technical Services department to develop strategies that address those issues
- Collaboratively develop improved processes around production management, health management, and biosecurity
- Conduct farm assessments and evaluations
- Assist in training farms on proper implementation of established health-related SOPβs
