Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Summary

The job is for a full-time Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor who provides services to individuals disabled under the FECA. The position can be based in various locations within the US, PR, and territories. Duties include vocational rehabilitation, communication with stakeholders, assessments, and ergonomic modifications.

Requirements

• Must hold a specialized certification in one of the following areas: Certification by the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC), Occupational Health (COHN), Case Management (CCM), Insurance Rehabilitation (CIRS/CRRN), Disability Management (CDMS), Nurse Case Manager Board Certified (ANCC/ANA)
• Minimum of two (2) years of vocational rehabilitation counseling/placement experience
• Minimum of two (2) years case management experience in the workers’ compensation arena
• Ability to perform services both telephonically and in person
• Must be able to travel for site visits as needed

Responsibilities

• Provide vocational rehabilitation services to individuals disabled under the Federal Employees' Compensation Act (FECA) to facilitate employment and/or reemployment
• Assist with non-employment related services such as home and vehicle modifications
• Communicate with injured workers (IWs), medical providers, federal employing agency personnel, vocational testing facilities, community rehabilitation programs, and private employers
• Perform vocational counseling and guidance, vocational assessments, job analyses, transferrable skills analysis, placement services, vocational exploration, labor market surveys, wage-earning capacity research, and plan development
• Facilitate and/or perform ergonomic, job, vehicle, and home modification services
• Provide life care planning services in catastrophic injury cases
• Ensure all vocational rehabilitation services are documented and reported accurately

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent experience with the FECA vocational rehabilitation program and/or performing vocational rehabilitation in a workers' compensation environment
• Hold a valid unrestricted Rehabilitation Counselor/Professional Counselor/General Counselor license (in states/areas where available/required)
• Vocational Evaluation (CVE/PVE)
• Work Adjustment (CWA)
• Career Assessment Associate (CCAA)
