Summary
Join Western Digital as a Process Technician and become the primary interface between manufacturing, maintenance, and engineering teams, ensuring consistent high-quality wafer production. Monitor tooling performance, identify processing issues, and resolve work-in-progress delays. Contribute to tooling/processing issue resolution, implement changes, and train lower-level operators. This role requires knowledge of semiconductor wafer manufacturing processes and statistical process control. Requirements
- Knowledge and familiarity of semiconductor wafer manufacturing processes (thin film deposition, ion mill, reactive ion etch, electroplating, photolithography, metrology, sputter etch, sputter deposition) and logistics
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control systems, applications and rules
- Ability to extract, summarize, interpret and present process data
- Ability to apply process data to decision making
- History of problem solving; able to drive problems to resolution
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Responsibilities
- Function as the primary interface between the manufacturing, maintenance, and process and equipment engineering teams to ensure the consistent production of high-quality wafers
- Monitor the performance of tooling used in the manufacturing process and help to identify processing issues affecting output or product quality
- Be responsible for the cycle time within their area and resolve any WIP that is delayed or on hold
- Be directly involved in the resolution of tooling or processing issues and recommend, document and implement changes at the direction of the appropriate engineering group
- Play a vital role in the training and certification of lower-level operators
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of MESA or similar Shop floor Control Systems
- Knowledge and familiarity of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing Principles and DMAIC processes
- Proficiency or experience with SQL or similar query languages
- Proficiency or experience with VBA, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Experience with Project Management applications
- Leadership qualities and experience
- Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Data Analysis or Statistics, Chemistry or Physics
